Today in Music History

Today in music history, 1685, German keyboardist, violinist, and composer
Johann Sebastian Bach was born to a musical family. Another musical great was born on the same date in the year 1732, Austrian composer
Franz Joseph Haydn. He, too, learned the violin and keyboard of the time.

Both gentlemen were highly gifted in their art. Both are acclaimed throughout the world as being accomplished instrumentalists and composers. Students of music today learn the works that they left us, over 2,000 pieces of music combined.

Celebrate their lives and their gifts to our culture with these two exciting works:

BACH: TOCCATA & FUGUE IN D MINOR, BWV 565 (transcribed by Dr. Hall)

Haydn : Symphony No. 94, ‘Surprise’, 2nd movement
